This one certainly looks intentional...but we were supposed to be practicing piaffe, not levade! Note to self: release!
Many participants performed a variety of upper-level movements, including piaffe, passage, flying changes of lead and canter pirouettes. Several of the riders were performing one of these movements for the very first time. Other riders were starting young horses (including Nero, who was under saddle for only the 4th time). Emphasis was placed on refining the rider's seat, posture and hands in order to correctly deliver the aids and encourage the horse to properly use his back and hindquarters. All of the riders had beautiful moments, and many of the rides were spectacular. Differences in performance could clearly be seen between the beginning and the end of each lesson; both horses and riders responded quite positively to the instruction. Not surprisingly, many riders returned from the previous years’ clinics and eagerly await the opportunity to ride with Mr. Hausberger again next summer.
